Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces fettuccine pasta
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Fill a large pot with water and add a generous pinch of salt. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water. Stir gently to prevent sticking and cook according to package instructions (about 10-12 minutes) until al dente.
- Reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
- In a large skillet or saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat, watching closely to prevent burning.
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring continuously to create a rich sauce base.
- Stir in garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg (if using). Simmer gently for 2-3 minutes to meld flavors.
- Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring constantly until melted and smooth. Adjust thickness with reserved pasta water if needed.
- Toss the drained fettuccine into the skillet with the Alfredo sauce, coating evenly.
- If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a tablespoon at a time until desired creaminess is achieved.
- Taste the pasta and adjust seasoning with more salt or pepper if necessary.
- Twirl portions of fettuccine onto plates using tongs or a pasta fork.
- Sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley and additional grated Parmesan if desired.
- Serve immediately while hot and creamy, perfect with a side salad or garlic bread.
Notes
- Use Fresh Ingredients: Freshly grated Parmesan cheese melts better and enhances flavor.
- Dont Overcook the Pasta: Cook al dente as it will continue to cook slightly when mixed with the sauce.
- Experiment with Add-ins: Consider adding cooked chicken, shrimp, or vegetables for a heartier meal.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently, adding a splash of cream or milk to loosen the sauce.
