- 12 oz pasta (spaghetti or your choice)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup vodka
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente (8-10 minutes). Stir occasionally.
- Before draining, reserve about 1 cup of the pasta cooking water.
- Drain the pasta and set aside without rinsing.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the onion for 3-4 minutes until translucent, then add garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes and let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add gochujang and mix well.
- Stir in soy sauce and honey (or maple syrup) and simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in vodka and let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Lower heat and stir in heavy cream. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes, adding reserved pasta water if needed.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Add drained pasta to the skillet and toss to coat.
- Cook together for an additional minute over low heat.
- Serve in bowls or on plates.
- Top with fresh basil or parsley and optional Parmesan cheese.
- Serve and enjoy the delightful flavors!
