Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Optional: lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- In a medium bowl, season the shrimp with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Toss gently and let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- Mince the garlic cloves finely.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt completely, swirling the pan to combine.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink and opaque.
- Flip the shrimp and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until fully cooked and opaque throughout.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the shrimp.
- Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle chopped parsley over the shrimp. Toss gently to combine.
- Serve the garlic butter shrimp over rice or with crusty bread, garnished with additional parsley and lemon wedges if desired.
Notes
- Use fresh shrimp for the best flavor; if using frozen, ensure they are fully thawed and dried.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to your spice preference.
- For added flavor, consider adding a splash of white wine to the sauce or tossing in cherry tomatoes.
- To make the dish heartier, add sautéed vegetables like asparagus or bell peppers.
