Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed to about 110°F (43°C)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add more flour if sticky.
  5. Shape into a ball, place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. In a medium bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon until smooth.
  7. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a 16×24 inch rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.
  8. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border.
  9. Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log and pinch the seam to seal.
  10. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces using a sharp knife or dental floss.
  11. Place the cut rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving space between each. Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes until puffed.
  12. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  13. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust consistency with more milk if needed.
  14. Let the rolls cool in the pan for 10 minutes before drizzling with icing. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • You can add nuts or raisins to the filling for extra flavor.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
