Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ripe bananas
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Chopped nuts (optional, for garnish)
- Vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Peel the ripe bananas and slice them diagonally into 1-inch thick pieces.
- In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
- In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat until it starts to bubble.
- Add the banana slices to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the bananas and gently toss to coat. Allow the sugar to dissolve and create a glaze.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and cook for an additional minute until bubbly.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
- Plate the bananas or serve in a dessert bowl over vanilla ice cream. Drizzle with any remaining glaze and garnish with extra cinnamon or nuts if desired.
Notes
- Use ripe bananas with a few brown spots for the best sweetness.
- Substitute with coconut oil or non-dairy butter for a healthier option.
- These bananas can also be enjoyed as a breakfast topping on pancakes, waffles, or oatmeal.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently before serving.
