Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
- Optional toppings: sprinkles, crushed nuts, or additional chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with non-stick cooking spray or butter.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
- Melt the butter and let it cool slightly before adding it to the dry ingredients.
- Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Pour in the milk and fold in the chocolate chips until the batter is smooth.
- Fill each cavity of the donut pan about 2/3 full with the batter using a piping bag or zip-top bag.
- Tap the pan gently on the counter to remove air bubbles.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth. Adjust consistency with more milk or powdered sugar as needed.
- Dip the top of each cooled donut into the glaze and let excess drip off.
- Place back on the wire rack to set for 10-15 minutes.
- Add toppings if desired while the glaze is still wet.
- Once the glaze has set, serve the donuts fresh and enjoy! Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
Notes
- Ensure not to overmix the batter to keep the donuts light and fluffy.
- Feel free to customize the glaze and toppings to suit your taste preferences.
