Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 pre-made pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced red onion
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix until well combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Shape the meat mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, yielding around 20-24 meatballs.
- Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they are spaced evenly.
- Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and golden brown. Check for doneness by cutting one in half; it should be no longer pink in the center.
- If using store-bought pizza dough, let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle a clean surface with flour and roll out the dough into a circle or rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza stone or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, lightly greasing the sheet with olive oil if desired.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Spread BBQ sauce over the pizza dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Cut the baked meatballs in half and scatter them evenly over the BBQ sauce.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the meatballs, ensuring even coverage.
- Top with sliced red onions to add crunch and flavor.
- Carefully place the assembled pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences. You can add bell peppers, jalapeños, or any other favorite pizza toppings.
- For a spicier kick, consider using a spicy BBQ sauce or adding crushed red pepper flakes.
