- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup eggnog
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1–2 tablespoons eggnog (for glaze)
- Extra ground nutmeg or cinnamon (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Lightly grease a donut pan with cooking spray or butter.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggnog, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
- Fill each cavity of the donut pan about 2/3 full with batter.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon of eggnog until smooth. Adjust consistency with more eggnog if needed.
- Dip the top of each cooled donut into the glaze, allowing excess to drip off.
- Sprinkle with extra nutmeg or cinnamon.
- Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
